Bob vs Baz – The Results #bobandbaz

Some really great races there, especially Paisley Park steaming through to take the win, awesome.

14:05 Christy 1965 Chase – Politologue won so points for both Bob & Baz

14:25 Betfair Exchange Stayers – Paisley Park first for Bob, Shades of Midnight 2nd for Baz and First Assignment 3rd for Bob

14:40 Coral Hurdle – If The Cap Fits so points for Bob & Baz

15:00 Betfair Chase – Won by the great Bristol De Mai, Native River second for Baz

I think Bob wins by a place! Close thing.

Saturdays Reflections from Bob

Well done to Baz who managed to pick the winner of the BetVictor.com H’Cap Chase. In the Juvenile Hurdle, Never Adapt seemed to rush off at too strong a pace, and spent most of the race 10 lengths ahead. No surprise she had nothing left at the end! Baz’s choice of Rock the Kasbah performed very well in the H’Cap Chase, Sharp Response had nothing to give at the end. The Gold Cup was a bit of a lottery with both our choices falling. On to tomorrow.

Wincanton Races Reflection

A mixed bag but back to winning ways at least.

Secret Investor was beaten by experience but will only get better.(2nd)

Verdana Blue looked a class horse and went clear at the end. (1st)

El Bandit was well beaten but Somekindofthing lived up to the analysis. (2nd)

Haldon Gold Cup – Analysis

Three out and it could have been anyone’s race.

It is quite possible that first race out and being the top weight didn’t do Diego Du Charmil any favours in that final push for the finish. God’s Own surprised a lot of people winning at that age but on my declaration analysis he was not that far from the rating I gave Diego Du Charmil.

Well it can only improve from here, I don’t think these small fields are helping and it is a little disappointing that such good races only end up with 4 or 5 runners.

Weekend Post Race Analysis

Well it was a bit of a disaster!

2.40 Charlie Hall Chase

There was not much between the horses except Virgilio on paper. With Black Corton being favourite and the favourite not winning often this meant it was down to a two horse race. Sadly we will never know if Double Shuffle could have made it as he was a faller at the first. Didn’t seem as though he wanted to jump it! Good quote by Definitely Red’s owner who suggests that the winner thrives in small fields. Something to look at in the future perhaps.

3.15 West Yorkshire Hurdle

Don’t think anyone expected Nautical Nitwit to win this one. Keeper’s Hill looked as though he was in a good place on the first lap but he didn’t have the engine when it was needed. Perhaps the fast ground didn’t help on his return.

3.35 Sodexo Gold Cup

No surprise here, hungover as a lord so didn’t fancy jiggling too many stats and plumped for King’s Lad. Again it looked good for a while but ran out of steam at the end.

Onto better things next week one hopes!

Persian War Novices Hurdle (Class 1) (Grade 2) – Post Race

  1. Secret Investor 5/1
  2. Double Treasure 8/1
  3. Gosheven 6/1

Minella Warrior in 4th but could have had 3rd at the last jump.

I had tagged Secret Investor early on when the declaration was made, just changed my mind during the last hour as the odds kept changing. I went 1pt on Minella Warrior and covered it with a 1/2 pt on Secret Investor. So in the end I ended up 2 pts up.

Chepstow Racecourse Silver Trophy H’Cap Hurdle (Grade 3) – Post Race

  1. Garo de Juilley (25/1)
  2. Point of Principle (25/1)
  3. Whatmore (16/1)
  4. Dans le Vent (10/1)

The winner was nowhere on my radar and didn’t fit any of the trends seen. Didn’t see the race so not sure how it played out. Point of Principle was on one of the lists but didn’t really stand out either.

Looks like it was too much for Sneaky Feeling, Theclockisticking came in 5th, 3 lengths behind).

Chepstow.racecourse.co.uk Novices Chase (Listed) (Class 1) – Post Race

  1. Spiritofthegames
  2. Monbeg Legend
  • Fell – Tommy Tucker
  • PU – Poetic Rhythm

Well. I took the bet on Spiritofthegames (7/1) when Master Tommytucker was favourite so that was a good choice. I had a covering bet(1/2 point) on Master Tommytucker as it started to drift out towards the start of the race. Pity Master Tommytucker fell as it would have been good to see where it ended up.
